A stunning golf course right next to Hadrian's Wall and the Pennine Way.

Haltwhistle Golf Club enjoys magnificent views of the South Tyne Valley and is probably, the most scenic and historically interesting course in Britain. The course offers excellent views East to Haltwhistle and beyond, and also to the North to Spadeadam and West to Gilsland and Brampton.

The club welcomes visitors and, unusually, at this course, there is no need to book a tee time. The office is often unmanned and operates an honesty box system for green fees. Please follow instructions in the Starters Office on arrival at the club.

This 18 hole, 5532 yard, par 69 golf course has well maintained greens cross land steeped in the history of the Roman occupation and the infamous 'Border Reivers'. Indications of the Roman remains may still be defined by various earth mounds on the course. Should your drive from the 17th tee veer astray and off the fairway, you may find your ball laying in the rough allegedly covering Roman graves, and if you look right from the 18th, you will see Thirlwall Castle ~ a remnant of the notorious times of the Border Reivers. (Read about the border reivers in our section on the history of Haltwhistle.

With trees, ditches and excellent greens, you will find this course a truly testing and enjoyable golfing experience.
